One Way To The Old City

As mentioned earlier, Bergamo consists of the citta bassa, or low city, and the citta alta, the higher and older part of the city.
You can walk up, take a bus, or drive up - but the streets are very narrow in the old high city.
So, an alternative is to take the funicular, or "cog" railway. To climb up the tracks there is a toothed wheel under the train that helps the train crawl up and down the track.

Hi,
Bergamo & Lombardy are great scenic areas. Don't miss them if you go to Italy!.
Gee, and I've never seen this one before? Where was I all this time? Oh, head-in-sand....
Hi Meg,
No you were just very tied up with your exhibit.
I just visited & you're into week 2 - I hope everyone is having fun.
I like a lot this "no way", and funicular.
What an interesting concept for a site! Actually, both your sites are very cool.
Are these your particular fascinations? Are you writing a book?
wonderful images!
